HOGOs
HOGOs is market slang meaning “Hit Or Get Out,” describing an aggressive trading mentality focused on immediate execution rather than patience. It reflects a style of trading where participants quickly hit bids or lift offers instead of posting passive orders.
This approach is often seen during periods of high volatility, breaking news, or low liquidity, when waiting may result in missed opportunities or increased risk. For example, following a surprise inventory report, traders may adopt a HOGOs mindset to secure execution before prices adjust.
While HOGOs trading can reduce execution risk, it often leads to higher transaction costs and market impact. It is therefore used selectively, typically by experienced traders who prioritize speed and certainty over incremental price improvement. The term captures a cultural aspect of trading behavior as much as a specific technique.
