Option Exercise Date

Date on which the option holder may exercise the option, converting it into a position in the underlying asset.

The option exercise date is the predefined day on which the holder can exercise rights to buy (call) or sell (put) the underlying asset at the strike price.

In oil derivatives, exercise dates determine cash flow timing and hedge effectiveness. American options allow exercise anytime before expiry, while European options are restricted to the exercise date.

Traders must plan for liquidity, settlement, and market impact when approaching exercise dates.

Timing decisions influence profitability and risk exposure.
