XD

Security trading without entitlement to the next declared dividend or distribution payment.

XD, or ex-dividend, indicates that a stock or security is trading without the value of its next dividend. Purchasers after this date are not entitled to the upcoming dividend.

For example, if a company announces a dividend of $1 per share with an XD date on January 10, buyers on or after January 10 will not receive that dividend.

XD status affects stock pricing, trading decisions, and dividend capture strategies. It signals the separation of price and dividend entitlement, influencing short-term trading activity.

Understanding XD dates allows investors and traders to plan purchases, manage cash flows, and anticipate price adjustments around dividend distributions.
